Healthy Hair Insight: Hair Chalk

I've been thinking about a little change of pace. I've learned to love my hair color but I'm thinking of experimenting with something a little brighter. I'm still all about healthier hair so nothing drastic or permanent or damaging is required. That doesn't leave me with many traditional options---that is until I bought this super cute hair chalk palette for under $10. I'll probably never use the uber bright colors, however, I'm thinking an auburn or blonde faux highlight would be cute on a bantu knot set. Thank you Goupon!

What do you think? Would you use hair chalk?

Besitos!

  1. I used teal, orange, and yellow hair chalk to make a few peek-a-boo highlights in my wig and I LOVED it. Especially when I braided it because all of the colors looked so cool.
The only problem with peek-a-boo highlights is that the hair rubs against your shoulders or back and stains your shirt, so if you decide on highlights, do them on the top!
    Have fun with your chalk!

    1. Awesome Britt! Thanks for the tip---I was thinking about a few face framing highlights.

With your experience maybe you can help: I'm wondering what's the best way to apply the chalk? I don't want to add it to dry hair; Do you think that it would be a good idea to spritz the section with a little leave in before chalking?

  6. I do have some hair chalk. I tried it once and was surprised to see it show up on my hair but it wasn't as bright as I thought it would be. I found it a bit messy too, but it was definitely good for a temporary change x

  8. I don't know, when I think chalk, I think blackboad, messy fingers, dust everywhere, hair doesn't exactly come to mind. It'll be interesting to hear how it goes down lol Good luck.

  9. I havent used it, but I have been eyeing it because it I want to try some bang colors. I actually want to dye, just a small area, but the chalk might be better. They sell some at walgreens around my house, so I might pick some up for the heck of it.

    1. For the hair dye committment-phobe like me---it's perfect. Inexpensive. Non-damaging. And you can just wash it out if you don't like it!
